Guest posting is a fantastic way to build backlinks and get some digital PR exposure for your brand.
In fact, when it comes to getting content published on other websites, many digital PR and link building agencies leverage guest posting because they can control the content.
Many journalists receive as many as 50+ pitches per day, so it can be tough to cut through the noise.
Here are some templates to help with that. Just be sure to customize and add personalization as needed as the examples have been.
Or you could hire us. Just scroll to the bottom of this page to book a call!
Template #1: For when you have an article ready
{custom intro}
I’m emailing you today because we just finished writing an article about {topic}, and since you’ve written about this kind of thing before, I thought you might be interested in sharing it with {site}’s readers!
You've been writing a lot about {topic} lately, so I thought you'd be interested in this. We can even hep promote it on our social media channels!
Mind if I send it your way for a quick review?
Cheers,
Nick
Example
For this email, you’ll see that the personalization in the first sentence is heavy and we’ve leveraged the social media promo opportunity of our client to get more responses.
Template #2: For when you have multiple articles ready
I’m {your name}. {Title} at {company}. Hope you’re having a great week so far!
I'm emailing you today because I’m working on some articles that I thought would be a perfect fit for {site}.
Here’s an overview of what each one is about:
- {Article Title} – {description}
- {Article Title} – {description}
- {Article Title} – {description}
Would you be interested in seeing a draft of any of these to consider publishing on {site}?
To give you an idea of my writing style and quality, here are some samples:
- {link}
- {link}
- {link}
Let me know, thanks!
Cheers,
Nick
Example
This is an example that was completely templatized with zero personalization. I don’t recommend this, but it worked for this client’s campaign.
Template #3: For when you have ideas
I’m {your name}. {Title} at {company}. Hope you’re having a great week so far!
I'm emailing you today because I have some article ideas I thought would be a perfect fit for {site}:
- {Article Title}
- {Article Title}
- {Article Title}
To give you an idea of my writing style and quality, here are some samples:
- {link}
- {link}
- {link}
Can I send a draft over for you to review and consider publishing on {site}?
Let me know, thanks!
Cheers,
Nick
Example
This example doesn’t have writing samples, but that’s because we haven’t had any yet and the social proof of a big client is often enough.
Template #4: For when you want to get in touch first, then pitch
I’m {your name} - digital marketing specialist at {site}. Hope you’re having a great week so far!
I'm emailing you today because I'd love to write a guest post for {their site} and I've got a few ideas I think would be a great fit for your audience.
Would you be open to receiving a few pitches?
For reference, here are some articles I've had published elsewhere:
- {link}
- {link}
- {link}
Let me know, thanks!
Cheers,
Nick
Example
An open-ended pitch with amazing writing samples gets results. In this pitch (and any others, honestly), good writing samples are key.
Template #5: For when you’ve written for them before
Reaching out to say 'thanks' again for publishing {past work} on {site}!
I’m emailing you today because we just finished writing an article about {topic}, and since you’ve written about this kind of thing before, I thought you might be interested in sharing it with {site}’s readers!
Mind if I send it your way for a quick review?
Cheers,
Nick

This template was for an infographic, but the angle is the same. Check it out.
